The SIA Snow Show

The SIA Snow Show is coming to Denver for the first time and we are psyched! Why? Because we’re locals, we love snow sports and Altigen is such a perfect match for all sports! Tuesday’s Tasting: Sencha Green Tea Bars

These chewy bars are among our favorites. Touting the equivalent of three cups of green tea per bar, this variety has a tea laden flavor that provides a nice complement to the other ingredients used in the bar. Otherwise, the bars have notes of nuts, seeds, and fruit (dates, plums, and goji). With 3g of fiber and 9g of protein, as well as vitamins and antioxidants, this bar is definitely credible in the nutrition department.

High Altitude Adventurers: Where did we get these rockin’ shirts?

By becoming a Colorado 14er Peak Steward you can have a shirt too. Did you know that Colorado has Peak Stewards? Well only about 34 people volunteer with Colorado 14ers Initiative (ONLY 34 PEOPLE!) to walk on the trails and peaks of our beautiful 14000 foot peaks. They help educate and protect these amazing natural outdoor areas.

The Colorado 14ers Initiative was established in partnership with the USDA Forest Service in 1994 along with five founding organizations: Colorado Mountain Club, Outward Bound West, Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado, Rocky Mountain Field Institute, and Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics.

The volunteers mentor travelers and regular hikers as well as take physical count of the activity and attendance on the trails. It’s important to know that with only 3 months a year to gather food for the winter, it is vital to the wildlife and their environment that they stay protected from unleashed pets and uninformed visitors. Tuesday’s Tasting: Ginger Tea

This is the best ginger tea, EVER. It energizes, strengthens the body, and balances the yin and yang. It’s natural, it’s instant, it’s not too sweet. If you are a ginger connoisseur and like it with a little bite, come on by and try! It’s granulated to dissolve quickly in warm or cold water. Sneak a ginger candy while you’re at it.

Ginger is often used in Chinese Medicine for its therapeutic actions. It may be prescribed fresh (Sheng Jiang) and dried (Gan Jiang) and often, the juice of ginger is used to fry food and medicinal herbs. Ginger is known for its ability to warm the body, relieve nausea and food poisoning associated with seafood (yeah sushi eaters).
